Event Professionals Network (EPN) Community Guidelines

These Event Professionals Network community guidelines are here to foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment for all members. They outline expectations for behavior, encourage constructive collaboration, and help ensure our community remains a safe, no-sales zone where event professionals can freely connect, share, and grow together.

Community Purpose

Provide a collaborative space and support event professionals navigating an ever-changing world of events. Feel free to brainstorm ideas, share tips, connect with other planners, ideate and check in on industry trends. We purposely keep the group for event professionals only.

Guidelines

  • Be supportive. There are no dumb questions, and if you’re not sure you can answer, feel free to tag someone who can (or share your experience)!

  • Keep things confidential. We purposely select who gets into this Slack to help ensure it’s a safe place to vent, collaborate, etc. No screenshots, please.

  • No selling. This isn’t a place to sell your services or sponsorship offerings. There are a few exceptions: 1) someone specifically inquires with you directly, or 2) you know someone personally and already have a professional relationship with them. If you have a question on if you should, please message Lisa Gregory or Katie Ray.

  • Be thoughtful and inclusive. Approach every conversation with empathy. We want everyone to feel welcome, and hey, we all start somewhere, right?

  • Give back and stay curious! Some members are more active than others, and that’s ok. Know that you’ll tend to get what you put into it. Consider sharing learnings from a recent event, offer to meet someone for a virtual coffee, meet up onsite at an event with other members for dinner or happy hour, share a blog, host an event retrospective, or mention a cool topic you’d like to noodle with others on. You can also look up past conversations and topics for inspiration.

  • Job opportunities. Share exciting job opportunities exclusively in the #jobs channel. *Job postings will be removed from all other channels.

  • Invite others to join. Message Lisa Gregory or Katie Ray for the link. Be sure the person you want to join makes sense and will be a welcome addition to the group.

  • Communications: By joining the Event Professionals Network, you agree to receive communications from Gregory Event Services about events, meetups, membership, or other related items.

What Will Get You Booted
